Public Health in Action through Community-Academic Partnerships by DA Global | Nov 1, 2023 | Education Abroad Resources, Faculty, Faculty, International Students, Support & Advising, Support Advising A Call for Inclusion: Offering a Diverse Perspective to a Social Innovation 2022 Global Inclusion Conference Poster Session The enrollment of students from underrepresented and marginalized communities has coincided with a rise in student demand for impact-focused and engaged scholarship opportunities. The Global Social Impact Fellowship program at Lehigh University offers students the opportunity to work on interdisciplinary, real-world projects that address sustainable development challenges in low- and middle-income countries. This program has enrolled increasing numbers of first-generation students, BIPOC students, and students with high financial needs. These students, working alongside faculty mentors, and external partners, enhance their professional skillsets, mindsets, and portfolios of accomplishment, making tangible contributions to systems-level changes that improve millions of lives. Students in the GSIF work during the academic year and then travel for fieldwork during the summer, implementing their designs and co-create solutions with their in-country partners. Nonbinary Clinical Training Evaluation Research by DA Global | Nov 1, 2023 | Education Abroad Resources, Faculty, Faculty, International Students, Support & Advising, Support Advising Nonbinary Clinical Training Evaluation Research Poster Session from 2023 Global Inclusion Conference The present poster was focused on the effectiveness of clinical training on affirmative care for nonbinary (NB) clients. The training workshop aimed to raise awareness, provide education, and enhance competence among participants working with this population. The participants were evaluated using pre-and post-surveys, which showed a significant improvement in knowledge-based questions, indicating the effectiveness of the training in enhancing participants’ knowledge and competence in this area. Exploring Disability Access Abroad through Smart (City) Programming by DA Global | Nov 1, 2023 | Articles, International Students, Leadership, Support Advising Exploring Disability Access Abroad through Smart (City) Programming 2023 Global Inclusion Conference Concurrent Session This session will share a case study of a unique short-term study abroad program that integrates the study of disability access and smart city technologies. It is the first of its kind at the University of Florida, spearheaded by the Disability Resource Center and College of Engineering to provide international experiences for all students.
