2025 Global Inclusion Regional Summit

2025 Global Inclusion Regional Summit

Global Inclusion Regional Summit

The 2025 Global Inclusion Regional Summit will take place in Barcelona, Spain on June 25 - 27, 2025.

The  Regional Summit serves as a unique platform for educators, practitioners, and thought leaders from around the world to convene to network, learn best practices, and collectively work toward making global education accessible and inclusive. With a rich history of hosting high impact professional development experiences, DA Global's Regional Summits provide a unique opportunity to explore inclusive excellence and its impact on global education, but through a regional lens.

The Global Inclusion Regional Summit serves as a reflection of DA Global's holistic approach to addressing and accelerating access and inclusive student success in all aspects of international education. Our commitment extends to four key areas:

  • Outbound Student Mobility: This pillar focuses on ensuring that all students have access to the benefits afforded through education abroad programs and can leverage these educational experiences to succeed academically and professionally. DA Global’s approach to education abroad is holistic, from program design through reentry.
  • International Student Recruitment & Success: This pillar supports institutions in strategically recruiting and fostering the success of international students, whose diverse experiences enrich campus communities. DA Global provides targeted resources to help institutions align recruitment strategies and student support initiatives with broader institutional goals, ensuring international students belong and succeed academically, and professionally.
  • Global Learning at Home: Recognizing that travel is not required to gain global competencies, this pillar ensures global learning opportunities are available domestically through innovative domestic programs, virtual exchanges, and community engagement.
  • Organizational and Career Development: Focusing on the professional development of educators and administrators, DA Global champions policies and practices that support belonging and success in the workplace and help grow the international education professional base.

9:00 - 10:00 AM | Opening Plenary: EDI Without the Acronym: European Approaches to Equity & Inclusion in Global Education

In the United States, diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) initiatives continue to face unprecedented political scrutiny, with legislative efforts seeking to defund, dismantle, and restrict programs that explicitly focus on these practices. Meanwhile, European institutions—despite facing their own challenges—have historically approached equity, diversity, and inclusion (EDI) differently by embedding these principles into broader policy frameworks, student success initiatives, and institutional culture.

This timely opening plenary asks international educators to engage in dialogue with our global colleagues on how can we sustain our commitments to inclusion, regardless of political climate or terminology?

Join us to explore strategies to foster inclusivity without overtly branding them while examining strategies for embedding inclusion into institutional structures, the role of transatlantic collaboration in research and advocacy, and how language shapes policy and funding. Finally, it will highlight the impact of these approaches on international student belonging, retention, and success.
